Just wanted to do a quick check before I get too involved with this project....are the FJ60 and BJ60 frames identical? Will I have any problems mounting a 3B engine or transmission on an FJ60 frame...engine mounts etc?

About 25kM outside of Tegucigalpa, Honduras! I'm sure I can find you one too if you want.

If you want a killer vacation I can help you set it up with a frame swap as well! You'd be pleasantly surprised at the labor costs down there. The savings would probably pay for your fuel to drive down and back with some left over!

If you're serious PM me some contact info and we can search out a straight frame and have it prepped before you arrive. That's what I did. I found the frame in April or May and did the swap in December.

tell me your not going to swap out a good fj60 frame for another bj60 frame!?

Charles swapped his out because the old frame was compromised. The two engine mounts can be knocked off a 3b frame and welded in under 5 minutes to a prep'd FJ frame. You might be even able to buy the frame mounts new (I could for a 70 series) or certainly they can be fabricated in a couple hours from 3/16" x 4" stock.

if your frame is rotten please notice us.

if good, please follow other tips.

I have some bad corrosion spots on my BJ60 frame, across from the two rear wheels, facing in. It was a classic case of rotting from the inside out. It seems like it is easier to find and FJ frame and do the swap, but i will probably do the Honduras trip, with the corrosion spots reinforced before I leave. Last time I drove through Mexico, the roads were pretty rough.

I totally agree with rick_d, if you're doing a 3B swap into an FJ60 with a good frame then simply do the mounts. If it's a bad frame under a BJ60 then put another BJ60 frame under it if one can be found such as in Honduras or from G&S.

In you're case it's the latter so a frame swap makes sense.
