I just had this delivered and found this.

1. how bad is it?
2. what is the recommended fix?
3. I'm putting in a 500hp corvette LT1 engine in it, should I box the front as well?
4. What else should I be doing to the frame while it is all apart and separated?

I was planning on RuffStuff boxing for rear, but will the plate cover this and fix it?

Of note: I will be doing a full frame off restoration to this thing anyway.

Ruffstuff specialties sell a rear frame boxing kit. You could use it and an extra piece to stiffen the frame and repair that crack. Assuming the out side portion of the frame is in good shape I would cut the cracked are an replace with a new section.

how's the other side?
how's the rest of the frame?

That’s not a crack. That’s cancer. The whole bottom portion of that inner channel is suspect.

Get a new frame. There’s little point in starting a frame off restoration with a bad frame.
