Found the Perfect Speaker panels for the FJ55!

Well I found what has to be the perfect speaker panels for the front kicker panels on the FJ55. Only ran me ten bucks for both sides. Cut one corner off and they fit perfect. I placed a Bazooka Marine 6.5" coaxials in them. Well take pics later. Have to buy some batteries for the camera.

Part Number I used is #11940. Plastic is thick and bends easy to the curve of the kickers. Fit a 6.5" speaker after cutting the rubber center out. Cheap and the 6.5's sound good.

Oh... forgot to say... I found them at Lowes. Dudes... these are awesome. They are the correct width and height. All you need do is cut a corner off. I will do a little write up to show what I did to make them fit.

Yess!

I pulled the factory AM Radio and One speaker. I installed the new radio under the dash in the center after removal of the center vent. I will try and get some photo's posted this week.

Im not much of an "in the box" thinker.

So I have the photo's now... I cut them for the thread but they might turn out to small... so I would like to send them to someone that has better working skills. Im sure the file size is way to big. Only three photo's.

DUDE! It is way better then placing them in the doors. And it looks 100000% better in person then in those photo's. I mean they look factory because they are hard plastic and cover the entire kicker panel.

I'll sale ya the radio and stuff... sent ya a pm...

I havent dont the write up yet. I am waiting for warmer weather. I am going to take out the entire interior, all doors, etc. Then get my doors welded up and clean the interior up. Then I will do a complete write up with photo's. as well as the other write up's at the same time.

sounds like a great speaker idea. where can i find the pics? I'm fixing up the pig to get 'er back on the trail again, and need to get some sound back in there.

about 10 years ago, i was using my '73 55 as a DD, and stripped the stereo equipment out of my other car- infinity 6 1/2"s in the front doors, infinity 6x9s in the rear panels, a RF 12" sub, cd player, crossover and 350 watts to push it all; surprisingly, it actually sounded pretty good and clean- all that room inside the wagon makes for some roomy sound- kinda like a concert hall, and it didn't hurt that it helped drown out the usual engine/tire noise when i needed a break, too. nice to be able to drive out into the middle of nowhere on a full moon night, throw a blanket across the hood and crank up some 'dark side of the moon'
