For those that don't know, Rising Sun is building an FJ62 that can be yours for $3 and a little luck and/or Cruiser Karma. This vehicle is being raffled with the proceeds going to land use issues. Details are in this thread.

The truck is still being built but they had it on display at Moab for everyone to see. Please read all the posts in the above thread to get the details. It will make someone a very proud owner and it has all the best components from the top Toyota off-road vendors. You can buy your raffle tickets at this web site. The drawing will be held on Dec 1, 2007.

There is only ONE thing for certain about this raffle. If you do not enter the raffle, you will not win this truck.

P.S. it's a 6 month old wide flat panel on ie7.

It appears that IE ignores the first [ u ] tag when it sees the [ url ] tag so I added another underline tag immediately before the text and after the [ url ] tag.

Just thinkin' out loud here guys . . . .

In the past, we have donated excess club funds to an organization that promotes our hobby and defends land use issues. All of the proceeds from this raffle goes to an organization that promotes this cause.

Does it make any sense to have the club "buy" a block of raffle tickets instead of an outright donation from HDC? Ige mentioned that past raffles for built Jeeps have brought in ~$30,000. Extrapolating, a $500 block of tickets would improve the odds for our block to approximately 1 in 60.

I'll let each of you fantasize on your own about what the club would do with the truck if one of our tickets was drawn as the winner.... :D

If this suggestion is not appealing to the majority, then maybe we could contribute something to the build. I see that they have not selected curtains for the cargo area and I'm sure we can come up with something that would look good.

I'm thinking we could have a nifty door prize for paid members at the January meeting.

... or have an essay contest,
... or arm wrestle,
... or an HDC raffle,
... or select a deserving member based on age, club participation, looks, amount of hair,
... or draw straws,
... or a boxing match,
... or longest drive to each meeting,
... or number of kids,

We'll think of something, I am certain of that.
 
I have some tickets for sale here in town if anyone is interested.

i always hit the new posts button, and it brings up everything, including clubs.
