Flywheel wear (1 Viewer)

Put in a new starter today. Snapped a couple shots of the flywheel. Kinda thinking the wear on the teeth isn't a good thing. Not to mention all the gunk inside.

hard to tell in the pic? what wear?

did you spin it with a screwdriver to check other areas?

OK, good to know. I guess the shiny pots on the ends of the teeth are to be expected on a 27 year old truck.

The old starter wasn't engaging fully. It would just spin. Tossd in the new one and it fires right up now.

The gunk pilled up in the bottom of the BH not sure if its just sand and mud or if it got oil in there...if its oily I would be looking into changing the rear seal.
