hello all,
As I continue to baseline my new-to-me 80, I looked to confirm timing. I warmed the vehicle up, checked timing which showed 3 degrees btdc. I turned the vehicle off and jumped Te1 and E1, but the timing remained at 3 degrees. Outside temp was probably 80 degrees and I am at sea level. I was surprised to see base timing was the same. I was able to advance/retard timing by rotating the distributor. It seems odds that the timing did not change when the diagnostic terminals were jumped, and it seems odd that the timing was 3 degrees when not jumped - shouldnt it be closer to 7-10 degrees? Any thoughts on this?
thanks in advance!
