Is the factory oil pan gasket & valve cover gasket made of rubber?

Can anyone confirm what material was used in the production of those gaskets?

thx!

Valve cover o-ring is rubber, you also have a few stud seals(i think 4). The oil pan is a cork gasket. All this is for the FJ80 with the 3fe gas engine. You may want to state what engine and year truck you are asking about. As the fj80 was model years 91-92 in the US and FZJ is model years 93-97 with different engines and acc. later robbie

Mine is a 92 FJ80, so it has the 3FE engine in it.

So, the factory oil pan gasket was comprised of CORK?

When buying a new oil pan gasket, will the replacement gasket from Toyota also be a cork gasket, or have they revised this part since 1992, like making them out of rubber now?

I bought a replacement from CDan...it is cork.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you get another 14 years and 163k miles out of the OEM replacement you should be OK, doncha think?
