Okay, has anyone had any thoughts about putting a 3RZ into an FJ80 in front of a manual tranmission? Completely insane idea?

I think that if you are going to do an engine swap then go big or don't swap!

If you have a really cheap way to get the engine and tranny maybe.

But if you want to do it go ahead and do it don't let anyone tell you different. It's your rig.

Ya, that's the key... I'd only consider it if I could find a cheap donor drivetrain locally. I have a 1992 truck with a 22RE that I can use for measurements. My main concern I think is whether the shifter will end up in the right place. The FJ80 auto is very similar in length the my W56 manual transmission.

I think that the 3rz is a great engine, but the 80 weighs a bunch more than the tacoma and the 3rz has around 50 lbs less of torque that the 3fe. Not sure I would want to make the sacrifice.
