Does anyone know if it is possible to put the 3rd member from an FJ80 into a later model FJ40 Disc Brake Front Axle? Would the bolt pattern align to the axle housing, would the spider gears align to the axle shafts, and would it require any modifications to the axle housing?

Actually, that is only for the rear third member. Does anyone know if it has been done for the front to adjust the drive shaft angles?

Hi all,

mdman, the front diff on a 80 Series is smaller (8 inch) than the rear (8.75) which is the smae size as earlier TLC diffs.

So no, the high pinion front differential of a 80 Series won't fit/work in the front axle of a 40/45/55/60/70/75 Series.

Regards,

Alan

Any chances of a specialty shop that could build a custom high pinion third member housing?

Ok I have kind of the same problem. I was told my front axle is a fj80 low pinion the driverside axle tube is bend so bad I cant get the axle out I have an ARB and I have access to a fj40 front axle I want to know if I can put my 3rd member into the fj40 front so I don't have to buy another arb. Or does anyone know where I could find a ffj80 front axle housing? any help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance
