Will be doing a V8 swap gradually but need to get the FJ62 driving for now (motor/radiator/etc. are gone) and have a lead on 2 different FJ80 motors (1991 and a 1992)
Are they an easy drop in for the FJ62? The radiator? Anything else?

I looked and read but found only partial clues...

It will work but you need to transfer the accessories (smog pump, alternator, A/C, power steering pump, motor mounts) from the FJ-62 engine. Also some of the electrical connections have different plug ends so they will need to be transferred over also. I recently posted about this in another thread.

I have a 3FE in my 60. You might just want to bring the whole harness and ECU with it as the ECU itself has different connectors. As mentioned above it sounds like the engine has some different connectors too.

Might be the easiest way. The 80 ECU will not plug into a 62 harness. And, it sounds like there are differences in the 80 vs. 62 engine connectors. So, I am thinking the path of least resistance might be to move the engine, accessories, harness, and ECU over together.

THE ONLY differences are the connectors for several of the accessories, and the passenger side mounts. it is much easier if you have a motor with the brackets and accessories from a 62. it can be done with the brackets and accessories from the 80, but then the wiring becomes an issue. you're going to need a passenger side motor mount, a/c bracket and PS bracket as well as the A/C comp and the PS pump from the 62 for it to be easy. also a thermostat housing from the 62 with sensors included. then it is about a bolt in affair...fuel injectors, IAC, TPS ect all plug right in; just the thermo housing stuff that's different connectors
