After tire rack screwed me with rims that didn't fit I have been all over this forum looking for appropriate wheels. I have an unmodified fj62 and was thrilled that one poster mentioned a shop that still has Mickey Thompson classic 2's available. Will the 15*8 with 3.3inch (-30 offset) work? Everyone mentions 3 5/8 back spacing but I couldn't find those. Plan on running bf Goodrich at's 31*10.5*15. Sorry if this has been addressed before, I am a complete novice here.

I like 'em. They clear the calipers an tie rid without a spacer?

Dam that is what I thought? I live in the mountains. Knowing this I am scared to get 33's on my 62 with stock axle ratios. I have a Iron man lift so 33's would look perfect. But I am worried the performance in the mountains will be poor. Despite the lift I am leaning towards 31's for this reason. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the hijack

32/1150R15 all day... No Duratrac but still plenty of tires... Always regret not going bigger when you see that open fender room

Yeah I hear you about the fender room but looks are only a small part of the equation. I want to enjoy driving it. I want it to perform properly without putting excess wear and tear on it. Ultimately the best solution is to regear. Unfortunately I cannot do that right now so I have to make a decision. Either 31, 32, or 33, it will look better than what I currently have, the stock tires. Talk about fender room!:frown:

Classic 2's bolted right on. No spacer needed. Although they are discontinued, First Choice Wheels have plenty in stock.

Which ones bolt right on? I looked at their website and they have a huge selection.

Buying wheels for my 62 is proving to be very frustrating. Here is what I want....no spacers, bolt on rims in 16". I want 16's because of more tire choice now and in the future. I want skinny tires so the 16x8.5's spn posted up will not work with 235/85/16 tires. The rims are too wide. What to do?:hmm:

See I was thinking the same thing about 16"s but after talking with a friend that has had a truck accessories shop for close to 30 yrs he was telling me 17"s are the ticket and only about $10-$20 more expensive for comparable tire. Reason is that if you look at any SUV/Truck these days they have 17s on them so the 16" and lower are slowly going away. 16s will be what 15s are now in only a few years.

I am looking at classic II's in 16x8 or 17x9, but I don't know if the 4runner calipers will clear either wheel....

I don't know if the 16x8's with -30 offset will work better or the 17x9's with -12 offset work better

I don't like spacers either and I currently would like a little more wheel tuck within the fender/mud flap line than I currently have....

I need to check the offset of the wheels I have now
