I was throwing CEL 22
Replaced the water temp sensor and connectors
Throwing 22 again.
I’m going to pull it all back out to make sure I’ve got the PINs etc crimped correctly and fear I may have to start chasing wiring all the way to the ECU.

QUESTION - do these sensors have polarity. Maybe I just reversed positive and negative when I was replacing the connector?

And I think I’ve found my issue (though I’d still like to know about polarity)
Turns out one of my connectors wasn’t fully seated
First time doing a connector so a rookie mistake

When I first built my '86 FJ60 with a rebuilt 3FE, Code 22 was the only code I got. It turns out I hadn't plugged the connector into the sensor all the way.

Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one!
With the pin fully seated and the connector firmly clicked on to the sensor my code 22 is gone!
For what seems like a simple sensor, when it is t working you get some serious and surprising cutout/bogging under throttle.
I’ll be able to sleep better tonight

Thanks Matt but Im all good now.
Your kit was fine, it was just user error not fully seating the electrical pin thingy in the housing
The Escape Wagon is running great now and thanks for all that you do for us
