Knowing that the FJ80 also used a 3F-E, does anyone know if the 90-92 models (FZJ started in 93 right?) used the same ECU as the FJ62?

I'd say no since the FJ62 and FJ80 have different part numbers for the ECU's. However, simply having a different part number doesn't always mean that they are not interchangeable. Maybe some of the 3-FE experts will chime in with some additional verification.

Yeah I got the same answer on the 60 forum as well. Makes me wonder if (assuming none of the other electronic components are different) the 80's ECU is programmed to get better performance or economy from the 3F-E.

I ask because Jet makes a performance module that's compatible (according to them) with '90-up Land Cruisers. Got me to wondering what (if anything) could be gained with it.

bwahhhhhahahahhahahaha

:flipoff2:

Yeah it sounded pretty laughable to me too, but I had to throw it out there.

Still love to know what exactly the differences are.
