Hey guys,

I'm new to the 60 screen but not to land cruisers as I usually hang out on the 40 side. I just acquired a 90 FJ62 and want to order a new suspension for her. I won't be wheeling it hard or adding bull bars or tire carriers. I'd like a nice soft ride and a stance similar to the picture below. I'll be running 31" BFG's and I don't want her sitting too high. Does anyone know the best spring and or shackle combination to achieve this look?

You will have a significant number of votes for OME... light duty as well since you want to keep it comfy.

How does it ride now? You could probably achieve what you want with longer shackles and new shocks if the stock springs aren't completely clapped out. Most votes will go to the lightest OME package you can get, but even the light duties are still intended to hold more weight than stock and will probably ride a little firmer than stock. I'm not sure about the other options out there (HFS, ironman, etc).

The old springs are pretty tired and I'm not a big fan of shackle lifts. Would you say the truck in the picture has a 2" lift? I'd like the rig to sit level without the typical stink bug rake.

OME springs may make the 31's look a little on the small side. I have no experience with the 'light duty' suspension but maybe this would be suited for it. The truck in your first post appears to have some bigger than stock shackles on it. I bet its just a shackle lift, but that does make the ride more harsh which isn't your goal.

I think I've read 31's fit with no lift, maybe we can get some feedback on that from someone here?

Why not the stock height springs, or a 1" lift? There is a thread that discussed options from a couple companies that make stock height or slightly over stock springs. My 62 has flat stock springs and 32" tires fit fine. 31" tires and new stock height springs would be a good combo I think.

I'm running 31's on the stock springs and there's no issues (like @red66toy mentioned). Are the medium OME springs really stiff? I'm going back and forth on a light/med. or med./med. set up for my rig.

I was reading this thread Light duty springs... it has good info on getting a "stock" spring set up from Deaver Suspension. Might be worth a look.

Trail Tailor can also source springs with a slight lift over stock if you don't want much lift. I'm planning on going that route this summer.

OME mediums are pretty stiff for an unloaded cruiser. Heavies, don't even bother unless you're carrying a ton of weight.

300k original suspension with saggy flat rear leafs, 33x10.5 on a stock wheel with no rubbing on Houston streets and a little bit of flex. I've got no doubt that these would rub everything if I was a serious off roader, but it was good to add tires and not immediately have to lift it.
