fj62 leaking oil side of head what size plug to tap to (1 Viewer)

hi all
got small problem my 62 is leaking oil \from side of head .I have heard that you can plug this has any one done this.If so a little info would help.

I don't have first hand experience, but it sounds like the oil gallley plug. If you check the 3FE list archives on birfield.com, you will find lots of discussion.

Where exactly is it leaking from? On the passenger side of the engine, above plug #5? If so, then yes it is the infamous oil galley plug. The pressed-in soft aluminum plug eventually backs it way out of the engine, and if you don't catch it in time, you get to buy yourself a new engine.

Join the 3FE list, there are LOTS of posts on there on how to fix it. I've watched 2 being done, finally did one myself for a buddy. Not too hard, you just have to be careful.

Here?: My 2F sprung the leak after my rebuild. Rebuilder tapped and plugged it for me. Dont know the specifics.
