Once I can afford some downtime for the 62, in order to achieve better front/rear biasing with my brakes, I'll be losing the Monte Carlo front calipers I have on the back and copying Boots4's 60/62 rear disc setup (60/62 front rotors and calipers with brackets welded to the rear axle, detailed here) for use with my 4Runner front brakes. At the same time, I'm going to start hashing out the hydroboost setup with a 1 1/8" bore GM master cylinder. The hydrobooster is also a GM in case anyone is wondering.
I know that it's necessary to mod the power steering pump for higher output volume (and higher pressure at idle and low RPM) when powering a ram assist system (which I also intend to do, but not until I actually need it), though never have found out if a 62's pump can easily be modified similar to the Saginaw mod. The question I'm leading up to is: is it even necessary to mod a PS pump when adding a hydrobooster to the system? I would imagine not, but if you're braking hard or pumping your brakes then you could end up with reduced power to the steering box, which could be a bad thing depending on the situation.
There's a custom hose shop here that has a good rep that I'll have make the hoses for my hydroboost setup. I'll just buy an OEM 62 HP hose from NAPA and take it to the shop so they have a reference for fittings, then return it when I have the new hoses.
