Fun times with the diff, this resulted in an auto locker, which I blew, which resulted in a tightly shimmed lsd

Although this is currently off the road, getting a full motor rebuild after a semi seize from over heating (long story)

Currently working through a long list of things to do, such is the fun of having a project. I just hope I can get it out in the bush and on the sand again soon, seems I might find some good tech help around here aswell.

That's a nice clean engine bay. Looks great.

whats a wind wing?

Nice cruiser man!

I'm assuming we're talking about the front quarter glass that folds out and directs the air flow into the cabin?

I've got the same seats in my HJ60 now - nice and comfy, but a fraction too high when coupled with the Recaro seat mounts that I had in it....

Nice looking Sahara jozlod, I've always liked that rim style too - "Fatso's":D

Cheers, I've spent a lot of time on it.
Hidden most of the wiring behind the guards, moved a bunch of bits and tidied up whatever I can, put all the exposed wire runs in split tubing, and just try and keep everything clean. There is more to come with a 1 piece engine cover, and sheet alloy rocker covers. The twin thermo fans also clean it up, looks nicer without the big engine fan there.

This was the engine bay before the clean/tidy up

Was all sorted out when the motor was out

Part of the wiring tidy work I did. I had most of the harness stripped back, removed all the tape, and removed, re-routed or lengthened any wires I could to sort it all out, then taped it all back up, and put split tube over everything.

Ah ok, my seats are on the landcruiser seat rails, one side bolts straight in, the other side has adapter plates made to bridge the gap. All bolted in with high tensile bolts and spring washers. The engineer was happy to sign off on it all, so I'm happy :)

Welcome aboard, good to see yet another Aussie on here and even better to see one from Newy, where abouts in newy? i havent seen your 60 before, im out on lake macquarie.

super tidy rig, im in the middle of building up my 60 at the moment,
(search 60bob, should show up)

id love to have a look at that engine bay in person to get a few ideas on how to tidy mine up.

I'm sure what you meant to say was FJ62 with GM EFI engine ;) Great looking truck, I'm jealous of that high roof.

That's exactly what I mean. A funcional, desireable feature that cars used to have until we sanitized them for cost effectivness and made them less funcional. Probably the result of some a$$hole lawyer that made a million in a lawsuit about bees getting into the vehicle through the wind wing. :censor:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA its funny you say that, not long after i had my first 60, i had a bee coming in through that wind wing (we call them 1/4 panes) anyways, come in through there, a$$ first and stab into my inner thigh!

wow that is a super cruiser, i love all those aussie things like the barndoor and wind wings, and youre doing a super job of sorting it out too what with that holden (but how did a new holden motor need replacing so recently? i thought they would run for a million miles!) and that is certainly some super territory you got to run around in!

one love

Hey, thanks.
I'm pretty close to mt sugarloaf, on the newcastle side. Happy to met up sometime, though I currently have an empty engine bay, as the motor is out for a rebuild, and I obviously can't drive anywhere... give me a few weeks and I should be good to go.
Wow, yours looks good, a lot of work gone into it by the looks of it. I've never been one for much welding or body work, normally get my brother to help me when that comes up, but mechanical and electrical, I very much enjoy, which is probably why my build has gone the direction it is.

It's actually a Holden motor, designed and made by holden in Australia, just incase you're wondering, but yea, Holden are a part of GM, so you have a point I guess :)

I wasn't looking for a high roof, this came up for sale as an unfinished project, and I didnt even know about high roof ones, but I liked the way it looked, and brought it home with me, I'm now very glad I got a high roof, gives it a nice different look.

hahaha, but yea, I've used to windows on longer trips, as my air con isnt working yet, it really brings in the air, but doesnt blow in your face or make too much noise compared to having a window down. They just aren't very secure...

Thanks! The motor didn't need replacing, I actually had the motor sitting in my shed from a previous project, so I took out the 5L that i bought it with, and put in my motor, which is stroked out to 5.7L, and has some other good bits in it. I sold the other motor to someone up in QLD doing a conversion into their own 60 series :)

seriously, why is there no edit button on this forum, I can't fix my typos, or make any changes I find after I re-read what I post.

yea its had a fair bit of work done on it, my bro did all the body work on it, i did the engine swap, Spring over and then back to Spring under (long story), turbo conversion and the rear bar all myself tho. would be good to meet up, swap a few ideas man, can't wait to see this thing going and with that 5.7L it should haul.

if your into electrical i might be needing your help down the track then :)

down the bottom left corner of each of your posts here is an edit button, next to the quote buttons

Yea, I dont get that button until I've posted more, I went searching, and this seems to be the case.

Also, to add, I put my winch on this finally, been sitting in a box in the shed for over a year now...

And picked up some gauges aswell, yet to install, but they are Oil pressure, Water Temp, and Volts. I think I just want a AFR now to complete my information on what the engine is doing.

What are you using for cooling? Radiator, fan and fan clutch setup ? or electric fans?

Is Holden a GM affiliated company or not? Do they make their own engine assemblies or import?

Hey, I'm using the landcruiser radiator, with twin thermo fans from an EL falcon. It does work with the holden v8 clutch fan, but it didnt quite fit in the shroud, and it looked abit messy.
This is the best photo I think I have without going hunting more, of how they sit in the engine bay

Yes, Holden is with GM, they now import the L series alloy v8's in their commodores, but before that, they made their own v8's, which I have one of the later EFI version, they are quite old, cast iron block and heads, push rod, but work well, and have a very nice sound.
