Fj62 4x4 solenoid or VSV issue

So I've been doing a lot of reading on here and can't quite figure out what my issue is. My 4wd light stays on after I push the button to take it out of 4x4. The 4x4 stays activated. If I do the hose switch on the solenoids, the 4x4 disengages and the light turns off. Does this mean my VSV is bad or do I need to replace the solenoid or both. I just don't understand why the issue would be the solenoid if the vacuum works when I switch the lines. I haven't been able to figure it out by reading all the posts on it. I'm new to fixing vehicles and am trying to pinch pennies where I can. I thought about just replacing both parts but why fix something that ain't broke... Especially at the cost of these darn things. ~300 for both.

You need to replace the one vaccum solenoid valve and you're good. Let me find my link to the part number.

You can also find compatible used VSVs at the wrecker. When my VSV failed, I grabbed a couple of spares from a wrecked 2nd gen 4Runner for cheap. The outlets may have a slightly different configuration, but the function is the same.
