Hey guys,

it probably has been discussed before, sorry. I am looking into buying an FJ80 chassis and a FJ60 Cruiser. I was thinking to merge the two. Do you know who has done this already? Like 60 body on the 80 chassis.

Thanks!

This is my personal dream truck. Some day...............................

Why is it I never have the time and money at the same time to work on my own projects?

I have a related question:
Why does Toyota no longer make a Land Cruiser (for the USA) that Land Cruiser enthusiasts actually want?
It's a mystery. A complete mystery.

Hijack over.

A coil-sprung (linked) 60 with beefy axles, lockers, armor, 35"-ish tires, V8, crawler low range, and a 40 gallon tank? For $19,999? I'd be in!

^^^^ YOU COULD (key words) actually build one minus the crawler low range, and beefy axles with that budget... It really depends on how much time n effort you want to put into it....

The frame swap is not that hard to do....
I wish I had a shop/garage like some on the MUD community do.......

F, If I were closer you could use my place for more projects.

LoL... thanks dude... I'd be your tenant... And probably have to pay rent... LoL

I got a rust free 80 frame prepped for this swap. I cut off the front suspension though as I was going to use coil overs.

The frame is free, come and get it!!

Cheers

Thanks man! A bit too far for me right now. I appreciate the offer though!

Update!

87 60 series on 92 80 series frame, FF rear axle and LS3 Connect and Cruise package

This would be my ultimate landcruiser but I’d have a 1hdfte turbo diesel in it how hard was it to get the rear body work to clear the chassis rails?

Because like everything sports stars, Hollywood A-holes and every other poser ruined this.
Land Cruiser
Range rover/ Land Rover
Mercedes G wagon (about the only one that still looks like the original)

They all want the fancy crap in them.
Land Rover even stated the LR3/4 was build for the US market as a luxury vehicle, hence why they put cup holder in them. The Discovery 1/11 were very utilitarian (the Discovery 1 even more so)

I would go for a coil sprung frame under a 60 series any day.

close but not the same
I had the pleasure of riding in a leaf sprung Land Rover Series III and then a coil sprung Series III, what a difference. Coil sprung is so much smoother, and just a better overall ride.

I am not a diesel guy. In a tow rig, you bet :)

Started off with this, Also cut a bit of rotted metal off the bottom of the "skirt"

I left a 5/16" gap for any body roll on the mounts
