I would like to sell my 85 FJ60. I am having a hard time determining what a fair asking price would be though. I met a few TAC members (Eric C), Chris Rech (wrenching weekend), and a few others at Tuttle creek in 2004. I am directing this post mainly to those who have seen this 60. I apoligize for not remembering all your names. You guys were a big help and I enjoyed the company/outing at Tuttle Creek.
I drive this truck from time to time, but since last April, my main "get around" is 12 pass van. Before that, the LC was my daily driver. If I could have my cake and eat it too, I would keep it, but the kids and I are growing out of the house and I need to free up some funds toward more elbow room in the very emmeditate future.
I had big plans for this truck when I bought it, but soon afterwards my marriage took a turn south; seperation, divorce.
Originally, I was thinking $5,900. My thinking was the following: I paid around $6,500 (I believe $6,700) for it in 2003. At the time it needed a new clutch, new exhaust (including intake gasket), various seals, a knuckle rebuild, tie-rod rebuilt, and tires/rims. This truck came from AZ w/no rust.
I took care of all these items except that the once new tires are nearing the end of there usefullness. In addition to this, one of the cylinders is week on compression. The mech that leak tested it believes it is a valve.
The tranny has been noisy since I bought it. At one point I looked into replacing it. I was going to pick one up in Columbia (I believe Steve), but after hearing from other TLCA members that this was not uncommon, I stopped worrying about it.
I built a nice roof rack system for it. It is light, but strong. It sits on (5) cross members w/10 clamps. I have a "new in box" SOR header in the attick as well.
Anyway, I put up some pics and further details at: http://home.oct.net/tompkins/FJ60/FJ60.htm
Please take a look and let me know what you think is a fair asking price.
Thanks in advance,
