FJ60 Exterior/Interior Color Combo Question

Did the 1981 - 1987 FJ60 ever come in Freeborn Red (Paint Code: 309) w/ tan interior? Or did all Freeborn Red FJ60s have the gray interior?

@CaptClose has an ‘83 (I believe) freeborn red with brown/tan interior.

I don’t think the US spec 60’s ever came with those chrome mirrors though.

Then, look like the interior is not original (seats and door fabrick). And surely, the 81 model did not have the head light washer too.. No VIN plate on the door pillar ?

I know Freeborn Red 60’s we’re available with brown interiors. I don’t know if they were later offered with the blue/gray interior option. Here is my 83.

Seat patterns evolved throughout the years. Early models had this harvest pattern like mine, and later years the pattern moved to more of a brown pinstriped pattern on beige fabric.

The seats pictured in the OP’s photo are SOR aftermarket covers I believe.

I parted out a Freeborn Red '83 FJ60 a while back, it had the tan interior. I don't remember ever seeing one with the grey interior.

Correct. They are just two completely different photos of FJ60s. One is an example of Freeborn Red, and the other is an example of brown interior. Apologies for the confusion. Threads with photos tend to generate more responses!

The interior photo is Cruiser Corps aftermarket upholstery. I wasn't too concerned about whether the picture examples were "original," just curious if it came in Freeborn Red with brown interior. Thanks for answering my question!

Interesting. I thought most Freeborn Red trucks came with grey interior. Dunno why I assumed that. In hindsight the red with brown makes more sense. Good intel. Thanks!

Agreed! That is a beautiful interior!

...But I'm also not a purist. My favorite interior combo is SOR's carpet and Cruiser Corps seat upholstery...in brown.
