Has anyone ever designed a mesh grill for an fj60. I love the icon mesh grill and wondered if anyone ever copied the design ? Can I see pictures of your mesh grill ?

I've thought about this as well. My Subaru has the Sport Mesh Grille option, and I think something like that, powdercoated gloss black, with the TOYOTA logo on it would look great.

I'm thinking the same thing.... sort of... but in my instance I am thinking radiator protection behind the factory grill.
Since I tossed my AC condenser & I have a new unprotected radiator sitting up front, it is vulnerable to rock shrapnel kicked up from vehicles passing in the opposite direction.

That Subaru grill material above is what I have been imagining.... but installing it BEHIND the front FJ60 grill.

I think if anyone removes the factory FJ60 grill and replaces it with a mesh grill......AND posts a picture of it here on MUD, they will be banned from MUD for the rest of their lives. It would be too much of a visceral insult and incongruent to all sensibilities. :)

Lol @Output Shaft

I'm pretty sure @brian has put a mesh style grille behind his factory one. Looked pretty beefy too.

I wouldn't be opposed to a custom mesh grille. I think it would look pretty slick. Even in chrome :hillbilly:

I took a 40 series expanded metal radiator guard that is behind the 40 series bezel. I bolted a piece of 1/2" flat bar ( from a chain
link fence) across the inner rad support using a factory threaded hole near the top on each side. I then bolted the 40 series metal grill
to the flat so it protects my radiator from flying rocks on the highway in winter. Anyone who has driven the TransCanada 1 from Kamloops
to Calgary knows what I'm talking about. I don't have any pics, but its an easy and invisible ( damn, Output, I'd hate to be banned!!)
mod. Cost nothing, used old parts.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm gunna do to. Thanks for that info, .. it has to be done.

Since I don't have a FJ40 laying around, I'm thinking of getting my metal HERE

Not sure if McNichols does cuts. But, if your looking for a full 4 x 8 sheet.. They are your supplier, but shipping, unless within driving distance is OUTRAGEOUS.

Most metal supplies can get it for you at a much lower cost.

I buy from McNichols regularly . They have one in Phx. Great stuff and reasonable. If some one wants a sheet for this I can have it sheered up for cheaper shipping . Just be pretty sure on the dimensions. I get to Phx about once a week

Dave, I"ll look through the catalog and see if they have anything more "architectural" like what I first posted.

Bankerwire seems to have the best selection of the artsy fartsy styles...

Did mesh satoshi on my tacoma and hella lights behind them...recognize the emblem? Hahaha. Unfortunately I sold the grill to dump money into this thing. I think I saved the emblem though.
