Folks,

I have a 1971 FJ55...I'm looking at the shock mounts on the front axle and believe they are bent towards the front of the vehicle. I'm not certain if the axle is original (skimmed the 1971 body and chassis manual and noticed differences between the FJ40/55 axles, not sure how to tell from the exterior of the axle).

Would someone share similar photos from their early 70's FJ55 axle so I can compare? My rig still has drums all the way around. I'm not a metal guy...yet. Are there any recommendations on the fix?

Thanks,

-Mike

Yup, those are bent. Not hard to do with a hard landing, BTDT (see avatar).

Thanks @Pighead that's what I was figuring

If anyone has some photos, I wanted to verify that the shock mounts are supposed to be perpendicular to the U shaped steel on the leading edge of the axle. Appreciate the help

I'll get some pics of my fix after work today...
