Hey, i have a fj45 i have put a new fuel pump in, i took the hose of the filter and put my finger against and its sucking a tiny bit but not much and not sucking fuel front fuel tank how can i fix this problem?

what year fj45?
does the fuel pump have 2 lines or 3 lines?
if it has 3 lines it requires a spacer.
if a 3 line pump was installed without a spacer, it is no garbage and needs replaced
the pump with 2 lines does not use a spacer.
if a 2 line pump is installed with a spacer, the arm is not contacting the cam properly
was it an OEM pump?

78 is the year
this one has three lines, but didnt come with a spacer, just two circle pieces, what does the spacer do, i cant find where the fuel return is either

I'm going off US spec rigs
the 78 would have 2 lines, the return is at the carb
the 79+ had 3 lines and the return is at the pump

if you installed a 3 line pump without a spacer, it is broken, the arm is longer and needs the spacer, the end is broken off without the spacer.
Find the correct 2 line pump and you will be fine.

Made that mistake once many years ago. Ran for short while and luckily only cracked the arm. Nothing actually broke off and stayed in the engine. I do remember the return line which I wasn't using had a rubber cap.

I've pulled 2 oil pans off rigs and found the broken piece of the arm in the bottom of the pan

just to clarify

either pump 2 line or 3 line will work on any block F, 2F, 3F block, you just need to use the spacer if it has 3 lines and no spacer with 2 lines

How thick is the spacer?

a 1978 FJ45 DOES NOT use a 3-pipe fuel pump ! 🤔

- even in the AU ......

ALL
1962-12/78 ALL F , F1.5 and 2F use ONLY a 2 pipes / fittings pump , globally

- ALL
1/79-1993 2F , 3F Carb Engines used a 3 fittings / 3 pipes pump globally

- where does your 3rd metal pipe go and attach to ?

- photos here please will diagnose your issue faster then the fuel pump ARM that has already broken off and is sitting in your oil pan because
NO spacer was
installed ..
..on a 3 line incorrect pump application

Mine is 1978 and it’s a carb, so you are saying that I need a 2 pipe one, does that one require a spacer?

Mine shattered while removing it.
0.177 / 4.49mm thickness

Using the 2 pipe from the ol' engine anyway.
