Hi guys have had a long hiatus from the forums but thought I’d start a new thread for the new build. After selling my old pride and joy hj45 a few years back when we started a family I picked up a late fj45 troopy rolling body that I stashed away for a while. I’ve always dreamt of having a family friendly 40 series so I’ve been collecting bits for the last couple years and am now in the process of building a four door wagon .
I’m trying to make it look as “factory” as possible rather than a troopy with a small door cut in the side.

Will be running a 12ht , h55, factory power steer , air con, 76 series wagon front and rear seats but lots of body work and rust ahead of me before I think about digging any of that out.
I’ll post up some pics as I progress more but heres couple of my previous rig, a cut down hj45 Arkana . 12ht, twin lockers, power steer, five speed etc. loved that thing but need some extra seats now!
Also built my son his own mini 40 as well. Starting him young🤙
Cheers, Greg

OMG, that last picture is great!

You built that mini-40? That is truly incredible.

Tremendous craft, blown away!

What a joy it was to see those pics of your kiddo. Brought back fond memories of mine cruising in their not so worthy plastic Barbie jeep!

Impressive indeed
Cheers!!

Hi guys! Has been a while but have pulled this thing out of the back shed and starting to get into it again. Was originally planning on a wagon build but the back half of the troopy was too far gone so it’s now a dual cab. Took 200mm out of the rear doors and squared them up using cuts from opposite side doors etc and I’ve used a ute upper rear cab panel and slowly fabricating the rest around the door jams . Im using vdj76 wagon front seats and fold down rear seat and planning on making a factory (ish) looking wellbody tub for it. Has been a bit of a challenge making the proportions look ok on a standard length chassis but pretty happy with how it’s coming along. Will hopefully keep the updates coming a bit more more often.

Incredible craftsmanship all around, especially on the mini 40 (or is it a mini 25!?). I've yet to see it done, but I think it would be worth the effort to stretch the frame and extend the wheelbase to get the proportions looking right and less rear overhang of the rear bed/tray. I have the same complaint on the US Jeep Gladiator "truck". Thanks for sharing your build with us, keep plugging along!

Thanks mate! Yes it certainly crossed my mind to go with a stretched chassis but im not too keen on cutting this one as it’s in such great shape and makes things a lot harder here for engineering etc. I think I would go 80 series chassis if I was to stretch one. Maybe on the next build 😆
