Hi from down under!

Excuse the noob question but why would you have different length shackles front and rear on a 40?

I was looking at upgrading my suspension or at least replace the shackles and bushes (funds and all that...) and noticed the front shackles are stock 70mm but the rears are 120mm. I bought it with an unknown lift and what looks like could once have been Ironman's. How do I figure out what it's got on at the moment?

1976 FJ40 SWB soft top with 35x12.5x15's.

Oh, and it bounces like hell off road! I suspect someone change the diff ratio on the back but don't know how to check.

Any advice welcome please!

I fitted 20mm longer shackles in the rear to help level the vehicle out, especially when loaded as it seems MR Yoda designed the 40 ser to be dragging it's @rse a tad.

I suspect your rear shock absorbers are shot, pull one off and see if it offers any resistance or whether the shaft moves freely.

Welcome!

That goes for the mini truck/hilux as well, they love to drag their @rse a tad after 15 years or so.
