Will 40 disc brake steelies fit on an 80? What does the offset need to be for an 80 wheel? I have someone asking me if these will fit on an 80. They are 5.5" wide with 0 offset....

Factory steelies fit on an FJ80 without modification.

I think they fit an FZJ80 with slight grinding of caliper.

Perfect, just what I was looking for. Thank you. You happen to know the offset on the 40 disc brake wheel?

The mounting surface to the bead seat (backspace) is about 3.25"-3.5".

If that wheel has a zero offset, I think that means it is in the middle of the 5.5". If that's correct, then that wheel has a 2.75" backspace which should clear.

But......

Those wheels will not work on an 80 series or any other Toyota 4x4. That wheel has a 3.65" center bore and the bore has to be bigger, like 4.25" or 4.5". They would work on the rear of a truck with semi float axle but not on the front. If the truck has a full float axle, those wheels will not fit front or rear.

Center bore for an 80 needs to be 4.173" or more accurately, 106mm.

The stock wheel size for the '93+ Model years was 16x8 with 0mm inset. Center bore is 106mm.
The wheel size, bead-seat shape and inset are molded into the wheel according to regulations.

Thanks to all for the great info
