FJ40 Skid Plate On An FJ45?

Let me preface this thread by saying I've had a terrible day, so I'm sure that I'm just doing something really dumb :bang:
I thought I'd test fit my skid plate off of a 1974 US Spec FJ40 to my 1967 US Spec FJ45 Long Bed Pickup prior to having it powder coated. It does not match up! The mounting holes on the frame are about an inch closer together (measuring across from frame rail to frame rail) than the skid plate. The frame mounting holes also don't line up with the skid plates going front to back.
What am I missing?

I have two other skid plates off of other FJ40's and all of the holes line up almost exactly, so I'm fairly certain there is nothing wrong with the skid plate.

Back in the day when Downey made H.D. skid plates, we found at least 3 different FJ40 bolt patterns, plus multiple different frame widths (mostly due to frame flex). We had to punch-in multiple bolt patterns into our skid plates, and we also had to use long slotted holes to allow for varying frame widths- - -then still had occassional alignment complaints.

I am really surprised with all the differences stated above, that I didn't find any threads directly related to this subject. My search kung fu must suck.
 
‘74 would be a 4 speed trans with a ‘3 speed’ T-case. ‘67 would be a shorter 3 speed transmission... plate likely fits further forward.
