FJ40 skid plate Iron Pig type (1 Viewer)

Looking for a skid plate for a 71 40 series other than a stock one. I have a original 6 cyl with a SM420 using a plate style adapter and the stock 3 speed transfer case. The stock skid plate will not work without some modificatio so before I start cutting mine up I thought I would ask what others have done. Iron Pig is really what I want but money is a bit tight and well 320 plus 150 shipping may not be doable at the moment. I'm in SoCal. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Skid plates are easy. Make an EXACT cardboard template of what you want and take it to a local steel fab shop. If you can weld, they can shear the pieces from your pattern. Boom! Then you have one that fits your specific setup.
If you already have a good OEM skip plate you can use it as the jig to build on. Get a friend to weld it up if you can't.
