Hello, I have a 1977 Fj40 and wanted a recommendation for a new carburetor. I don’t have the original one. It’s just an old crappy carburetor not Toyota and want to replace it with a new one.

If you’re not running smog equipment CityRacer has a nice carb that’s not too expensive. I am running that now and works great.

Another vote for a city racer carburetor. On my 3rd year with one and it performs great!

Why is it crappy … running poorly ? Or just looks crappy?

With more work and more money, the Holly Sniper EFI system seems really interesting. Lot's of info on the forum about the trials and tribulations of that upgrade. The stories seem to generally end on a positive note, however.
