what changed in 1980 in regards to the suspension ? i have a lift kit made for a fj from 64-80 and am interested in installing it on a 83 ? the kit is made by rough country

what changed? can it work?

The leaf springs are different. Not sure if they're wider, but I think the bushings have a bigger OD. SOR sells all different sizes of conversion bushings. Give them a call or Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.

so springs are the same , just shackle/frame side bushings are different size ?

In Oz trucks the springs are wider, maybe even a different length.

Springs are wider with larger bushings and therefore spring eyes.

You can make stepped in shackles and run spacers on the fixed eyes, but why would you? The wider spring provided a little more lateral stiffness and better handling.

Sell the early springs and get the right ones for your rig...
