My 1980 FJ40 with Weber 38 carb gushes close to 1/8 of a cup of fuel out of this seam below the carb / intake manifold when I start it after sitting for a day or two. In the picture attached, the smoke coming out is the seam I'm referencing.

If I let it take a 10 minute break after that it cranks right up with no issue (aside from the residual fuel burning off the manifold that I'm waiting to turn into a firebomb).

I know everyone hates weber carbs, but I spend 500$ on this thing, and I'd love to use it as is.

Any ideas?

I have a 36 Webber on my 22r pickup. It had similar issue, not exactly the same. I found I was providing too much fuel pressure, was bypassing float, or over riding the float. I replaced that dial type regulator with a more expensive 60$ regulator and I put a small dial pressure gauge in line, dialed it down to 2 psi. Problem resolved. Ymmv. Good luck!
