Stopped by Christian's Towing just off of Ault Field Rd by the base today and they have a 40 that's on tap to be crushed very soon. I'm not well versed on them so I don't know much, but looked like a lot of good parts were still to be had and I hate to see such an iconic vehicle get scrapped. Supposedly they just got it recently so I don't know why they aren't keeping it around, but they said $500 for the whole thing as it sits. Supposedly has all the major parts to reassemble it, and it is a rolling, steering truck. $200 for just the axles out of it.

Too bad, hard top alone is irreplaceable. Doors could be made into 1/2 doors easy. Did you look at the frame?
$500?? Too much X5

I didn't look too closely at it. I know that they are notorious for rust on the back quarters and, though there was some, it wasn't as extreme as I expected. Hardtop had a fist-sized hole but seemed straight otherwise. Also just noticed that it is already spring-over.

She's long gone. :(
