Looking for the timing BB is a pain in the ***. Looking for a fj40 engine crank tool,i heard about but not seem to find. Links - or suggestions to get this done!!

Thx!!

I use a 45 mm socket works fine to turn the motor over just dont turn it with the coil wire connected hate to have it accidentally start while turning it.

Put it in high gear, release the ebrake and push the truck while you shine a flashlight at the timing window. You'll find it in no time flat. While you're there, put a drop of white paint on it. This is not something you are going to do very often-having a special tool is overkill.

I'm with Shipmag, I didn't even know they had a crank tool. When I pulled my 40 out of it's tomb I pulled all the plugs and used a long pry bar to roll the crank. Only skinned 3 out of 4 knuckles on the fan blade...;)

is it not a 46mm socket? i just measured with calipers last week and ordered a 46mm from amazon. havent tried it yet though. i have seen people say both 45 and 46. interesting. 1-13/16" socket is also quoted in some threads.

I think your talking about the oem hand crank ... Here is a link... Adjusting valves is so much easier with one... Btw can't be used with a winch

This is a link click it>>> https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/343061-hand-crank.html

All FJ55s came with one under the rear seat, find one in a junkyard (or a 60)...
Also still available from the dealer last I heard.

It can on a 55...

I run factory winches so the front crank is not a option. I have pulled the inspection cover off the bottom of the bell housing and use a large screw driver in the holes in the flywheel.

Curious will the hand crank work on a FJ55 with a factory winch or aftermarket? Also what years on the 60 series came with hand crank? When they were still using the yellow two piece jack handle rods? The ones I stripped in just yards had the later three piece brown rods that fit in the tool kit and never found any crank handle or a spot for one. How long was the rod? I believe early ones were 850MM and the last year of the FJ55 they were 1005MM long.

Thank you - I too run factory wheels and was seeing the crank is not an option. Bell-housing screw driver might so thank you!!

I just want to thank all of you for the help advice.. It has been 6 years since this cruiser saw the road and has been one thing after another. Trying not lose hope. so thank you!
