None, don't cut your door panels!

Anyone know what size speakers will mount into an 82' door?
Cheers.

agree with not cutting oem panels but if you get some cheap plastic ones (i use these cus it dont matter if they get wet when offroading) and you are careful about the centres (100mm up and 200mm back) you can fit 6'' without bothering metal

I'm working on an overhead console so I don't cut the.door panels or the dash for a larger head unit.

This is pretty high-tech. Its not easy for the average shade tree mechanic to get a 4-1/2" hole in a 3-11/16" square

Your point 451?

back on topic, SOR is incorrect.

Thanks, I am tired and have slept more in the past months than I have all year long. Like I turn the light out and crash at about 2am, up at 6am and that's the way it's been for 20 years, but past few months I crash at 6pm and up and 6am and sleeping till 2pm-6pm on the weekends......I am also taking a vacation in a few weeks, which will be the first in 15 years...So this should be an adventure, lol.

So your saying these speaker brackets will fit any year FJ40?

My original statement was SOR was wrong about his 82 as they show Fits 1958 - 12/78 40, 45 and 47 series. The only thing I can guess is that the edge hangs out more at the corner by the door opening. I did not alter these and just had them powder coated and installed. If you look you will see what I am talking about. Now SOR wouldn't say this as they want no heat, I on the other hand would say it does with a picture showing the difference.

So I say buy them up as they fit all 40's

Looks fine. I guess a person could trim it a little if it bothered them?

I recently replaced the door linings of my 83, which had inch speakers installed. Didn't want to cut the new panels, so bought a set of speaker housings from the local auto shop (about $40 AUD) which installed neatly on the floor either side of the rear heater. They have the benefit of being accoustically correct, as they're a sealed and insulated box.
