I have a mostly stock 81 fj40. My tire carrier simply broke in half one day while driving down the road! Bought a 78 version on Mud and did not fit, apparently 81-84 have slightly different bolt pattern. I can't find one one that will fit for less than $1000.. .which is crazy.
Are their aftermarket options? I don't need swing away as I have tailgate replaced with solid plate. Trying to keep stock look if possible! I would assume a plate with some extenders to fit the bolt pattern of the tire and and the body would be just fine?
