Wanted FJ40 3rd Member Assembly, 74-78 (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for a 3rd member assy with 4:11 gears for my '78 FJ40. I believe that 74 thru 78 are compatible. The gears must be in good shape, I imagine that I'll have to replace bearings and/or seals. Thanks!

You will want the later years. They come with the fine spline pinioin shaft. The course splines were kind of a weak link.

I think in 78 is when the cahnged to the fine spline. I might be wrong on the year.

but, fine spline are harder to find.

you can actually use ones from throughout the late 60s-78, you just might need to change the pinion flange to match your driveshaft.
