Hi, I have an 1974 FJ40, Engine F155 (4000 cc, 6 inline), 2.5" OME lift kit currently running 31x10.5.
I increase the power with a HEI distributor, headers and a Holley carburetor so I think I can run bigger tires to increase mud performance. The Gear ratio is 4.11, what would you recommend between 33 and 35s? I would like to increase mud capabilities without losing to much power. Any thoughts?
Cheers!

I have run both 33's in 12.5 and 10.5 and I actually prefer the 10.5. I am in Arizona though and we have to search for mud, not so much for rocks.....

since you are in costa rica ,you don't need to push the speed at 120km to keep up with the traffic too much , you can go with 4:46 or 4:88 , it will help in long steep and curvy mountain road , 35'' tire is sure a step better:D
on the pic is 33x10.5 vs 35x13.5

i think with some fender triming or longer shackle and maybe a 1'' body lift it is possible to fit 35 with a 2.5'' lift , also you can ad specer to your bump stop , or go for a 4'' lift
on the pic the beige is 4'' lift and 1'' body lift and the blue is 2.5'' lift only

Thanks for the info, my only question is in regards of the lift of the Bj42 using 35s, are you using 2.5" lift or up?
