Diagnosing some vibrations …

What might others have for front drive shaft rotational free play.

In RWd only it seems to rotate 20-40 degrees

In 4WD low and high it is solid

Thanks

Are the vibrations in 2wd or 4wd?

Seems to be both
Feels like in front

Just hoping to not rebuild front diff.
Might be unavailable

Do you have lockout hubs? Are you sure they are unlocked? With lockout hubs in free the front driveshaft should spin free. Before tearing anything down would get the two front wheels off the ground and the try to turn the driveshaft with hubs in free and 2WD.

Lots of things to do here,
Give us a better description of the type of vibration, and when it occurs. Gear, speed, coasting, braking, neutral????
Your front driveshaft should spin 360 degrees when in 2WD with hubs unlocked, I'm pretty sure. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
It should not spin in 4WD, or/and with hubs locked.

Yes lockout hubs. Will verify these in the am to be sure I put back in 4x2

You are correct it will Not spin in 4wd. And yes should spin in 2wd - like it is not there per se

Vibration when coasting or under load

Vibration in all gears.

But more noticeable about 35 mpg prolly cause I can also hear it .

Maybe it wheel weight or ujoint or possibly something stupid I did

What make of locking hubs are they? One is not unlocking

Warn

Ok.

1. Removed front drive shaft.
Still noise and howl. Almost loping.

2. Also Happens in neutral

3. Totally loosened the parking brake. So that’s not it

4. Wheels nuts all tight and good pressure

Thinking some wheel bearing…. Any ideas are helpful

Front wheels spin freely when elevated. No noticeable grinding or catching

Rear wheels…. And drive shaft spring but looks like pinion is too loose? . A bit to much rotational play It seems.

I will try to tighten it. But I rebuilt this about a year ago.

Let’s see

Did you ever figure this out? If so, what was it?

My best guess it was a leak in my clutch line.
Not allowing g it to engage or disengage.l fullly

I found the leak. And it stopped
