Hello to all. I was going to make a four point roll bar in the bed of my FJ45 like in this photo.

I then wanted to have a Maggoliona camper attached to the top of it, so it free floats above the cab. Does anyone know how much clearance above the cab I'd need or does the bed/cab not shift enough from each other to matter?
Thanks!
Michael

I'd go with at least 2-3 inches of clearance clarence.

make an eco cage mounted to the frame around the cab and attach to that instead. that is of course if your 45 is lifted like the one in the photo.

Otherwise the cleanest installs of this I've seen are a bed rack that with the RTT is the same height as the roof of the cab. Similar to this but a bit lower so the tent is the same height as the cab. On google I found this in about 10 seconds. Can only imagine what you could find in 20 or 30 seconds;)

I saw this one before and liked it alot- but I don't know a person would fit in the RTT if it's not over the cab- meaning it'd be too short right.

That's Mudrak's 45...probably one of the nicest trail rigs on the planet.

also make it hard to get all the way in the bed if the tent bottom were much lower.....Floating over the cab sounds good to me.....

That 45 (with the exo) is amazing.

But I assume the OP's 45 has the bed still attached. Why would you mount it above the cab height? That would cause an awful lot of wind drag... And that style tent pops up, it does not fold out...

I was thinking of mounting it over the cab as to get an 80" length popup unit. I think the SWB beds are too short otherwise to lye out in fully. Wind drag doesn't seem to bother these things much anyhow, the front of the Popup is curved anyhow to sheer some wind.

Michael, what is the progress on this rig?
