Hi,
Recently bought a '93 LC 80 series which came with a duel battery setup using a solenoid - probably 15yrs+ old.
The aux battery was getting charge at first but now it's not. Unsure where to start to troubleshoot this one. Wondering if it's better to strip out the old system and start fresh rather than trying to fix the old setup?

I'd s***can the lot, redo the wiring and crimps and use decent dual wall heat shrink and do the job right and then you'll have an idea of what is going on.

Put a decent charge controller/isolator setup in there instead. Bluesea makes decent stuff as do Victron and others. All depends what's available in your neck of the woods and the # of bananas in your wallet.

cheers,
george.

I would agree with the above. You could be chasing things for sometime. And the technology has improved in the last 15 years.

Thanks, George! Confirmed my thoughts!

Definitely, I could end up spending a lot of time and money trying to fix an outdated system... time for an upgrade.
