That's exactly how my dad described it to my mom when she walked in and saw the mess. There went the rest of my afternoon cleaning up the mess in "HER" garage, and I was not allowed to change the oil at the house anymore...

If you like people stalling your truck multiple times before they can get it from the parking lot to the lift, go right ahead. Most kids/people don't know how to drive a manual. Talk about someone loosing their cool real quick, when you are watching two teenagers take turns stalling your truck for the fifth time out in the parking lot.

Well the place I take it to they open the garage door and pull it in myself. I get out and watch everything they do, because they let you in the garage. They don't have lifts, just pits. So other than maybe stripping the plug which I doubt they will, I'm pretty sure they won't break anything. Oh, I also drive it out of the garage.

If you change the oil on a Harley yourself, don't you void the warranty?

When I got the bike (new 4/93), the service manager said to let them do the 500 mile check which included oil change. And it was all covered as part of the purchase. After that, he told me to do everything myself. Harley warranty is only 12 months/unlimited miles. Tough to get unlimited miles when ya live in a snow state.

A few lifetimes ago, I used to change the oil in my 72 Peterbilt COE. 11 gallons of oil, two oil filters, two fuel filters. And grease the whole truck. I needed to jack the front end up to properly grease the king pins. Outside. On dirt/gravel. Had to do it every month, winter/spring/summer/fall. I have zero enthusiasm to do that again.

All the places I take my other cars to are like that with the exception of dealers and Firestone. The quick lube places are drive in, drive out. I think it may be different in other areas of the country.
