Had to go to the family holiday party today so was only able to spend an hour or so working on the truck. I fitted the hood, checked a couple things then decided to do a second test fire since I didn’t really have the time last night to check all the vitals as I should have.
Even though she fired right up I was surprised to see that the engine appeared to not build oil pressure. The gage was stuck on the first line and didn’t move when rev’d. All other gauges and dash lights are normal.
Shut it down and checked the dip stick. The oil level was in the full zone but WTF, milky oil! So low oil pressure and water in the oil, great...
I pulled the radiator cap, started it again and checked for bubbles or oil, seemed ok. At that point I had to leave for the day I’ve been thinking about what the issues could be...
Since the oil was clean earlier in the project I’m hoping maybe the milky oil is from pressure washing the engine after I pulled it. Tomorrow I will drain the oil and inspect it.
As for the oil pressure I’m a bit stumped. Tomorrow I'll check the torque on the front pully bolt, pull the Napa (WIX) filter and replace it with a new small OEM filter I just got last week. And if I have to I'll troubleshoot the pressure sensor via the FSM.
Any other suggestions on what to look for? Anybody know where this random wire on the oil pressure sensor harness goes?
