Super nice rig. It’s turning out to be a really sano build (I need to drop some old hot rod speak).

What were the part number on your springs? I’m surprised you didn’t opt for tapered springs. The weight is getting up there.

Thanks! I use to build VW’s when I was in high school so “sano” is totally in my vernacular.

I went with the progressive springs, the part numbers are:

C59-614V 4” Front
C59-615V 4” Rear

I also installed 30mm spacers up front.

But you’re right, these may not make the final cut. It drives good around town, is a tad sketchy on the freeway but I’ve yet to get it on the trail so jury is still out....

Even though it’s been awhile since I posted I have been putting time into finishing this truck. Going back a couple months ago I ran a 6AWG and a couple 14 AWG wires for various electrical accessories I have planned.

Before laying down some sound deadening I plugged all the third row seat latch holes.

Rear panels, floor, wheel wells and tail gate all got the killa mat treatment.

Next I started in on the front seat rehab, what a mess the front seats were, passenger side had a stripped gear and a bad forward/ backward switch and the driver recline switch stud was broken off.

Some new gears and a used passenger switch off eBay to the rescue.

I installed the new switch module in the passenger side. Then used the recline switch parts from the old passenger switch to fix the driver side

Pans were so dirty so I clean everything and lubed all the lead screws

But before installing the new leathers I took the foam bottoms to the local upholstery shop to rebuild the bolsters and add some burlap to the underside.

Then I steamed the foam and fixed some areas where the wire busted through the foam

Thanks! My kids will love putting that sticker on it somewhere.

Couple repairs as I installed the leathers, first founds some back pack cord keepers for the back mesh pockets.

A spring in driver seat was broken so I tacked it back together.

Also the back panel was tore up so I glued in a reinforcement.

Not too bad once all the leathers were stretched, hog ringed and steamed...

Kind of jumping around here but this is how I work on stuff... Before I installed the new carpet kit I put down some double sided carpet tape so the insulation doesn’t shift around.

All trimmed up but what a pain if you don’t have the original carpet to copy the pattern from...

Then I by passed the factory amp and installed a new Sony bluetooth head unit.

While I was in the dash I replaced a bunch of the bulbs that were burnt out (like 8 ish) and then converted the green incandescent gauge bulbs to white LEDs, so much better..

Looking better with the seats installed....

Before buttoning up the dash I installed a Blue sea 12v outlet where the cigarette light was and a 4.8A USB charger where the rear heater switch was. I also tossed in a Ram ball for later use

All plastics cleaned, conditioned and put back together

In the rear I installed a mountain hatch tailgate cover, super stout piece of gear.

Also cleaned the rear seats and threw in some SOR covers

Now on to rehabbing the doors and power windows. The driver door was an absolute mess.

Found a broken window track which made the window loose

09B2C382-CB2C-4C39-A35C-2FEE3C0E27A0.jpeg

Someone has obviously been in here before trying to fix the window, this previous weld melted the window retention rubber

Welded and ground the track

And cleaned and lubed the mechanism before reinstalling window with all new rubbers

The passenger rear window was completely out of the track and someone tried to super glue it in.

Again all new window track gaskets and window runners to the rescue.

Since two of the vapor barriers were shredded I bought new OEM ones and also some 3M black goop for attaching them.

I installed some kilmat in all the doors and put them back together nice and clean

All windows are now fully operational!

I then cleaned all the door panels, conditioned the leather and installed some pioneer 6.5” coax speakers.

Lastly I attached some LS400 sun visors I found on eBay.

Fast forward to today. Ive been having some issues with the rebuilt PS pump moaning real bad, that and the OG alternator has not been consistently putting out 14v when idling. I guess what’s another $500 at this point anyway...

83ED3C19-04E0-404D-8DFC-ACE4D78DC276.jpeg

Also since the weather was nice and since I was already underneath the truck for the power steering pump I figured I’d squirt some paint on the Marlin tie rod and drag link before they got too rusty.

Next will be some fun stuff like winch, snorkel, OBA and lights...

Beautiful build man!

i need to do what you did with all of your windows. Not looking forward to it.
