Hey Everyone. Hope this is the right section to post this. My dad and I bought a 40 when I was in high school to fix up, but it got stolen just as we were getting finished. Never even got to drive it. Cue 16 years later, and I had the chance to buy this: 1972 Toyota Landcruiser fj40, so I did. A beautiful condition 1972 Fj40 with most original parts (except new carb, brake booster, tires).

I'm just glad to be part of the club now. It drives pretty well, pulls to the right a bit when braking, and I need to fix up the hard top, but I am smitten. It also looks great next to my 2013 FJ cruiser.

Anyone in MN, I'd love to get to know you. I know Poser runs a shop here, which I'll shortly hit up for a few things (like a disc brake and PS conversion, if I can afford them). Otherwise just looking to get involved in the culture. I have read the forum for a few months now, And it seems like a great group.

Thanks in advance for the likely stupid questions I'll have. I'll make sure to check the FAQ first :)

Since those images will be gone soon... Hope you don't mind me posting them for you... ;)

Rule number one:
You can't post an I bought a "X", without posting pictures of said purchase.

Or at least it should be rule number one.

Welcome

Welcome to Mud, and congratulations on your 40.

Can't do better than Steve (Poser) and LCR 4WD; you're fortunate to be close to him.

Ha, yeah, i wasn't sure if i could post pics as a new member, thanks ginmtb. I feel fortunate, the guy i bought it from restores motorcycles, powder/ceramic coats, etc, so he took good care of it. And thanks Brian, 1911, i'm so freaking excited. And yeah, 30 minutes from Steve, so that's a homerun. The wife doesn't understand yet, but she will (fingers crossed).

Great truck ! Welcome !

Congrats. Your FJ40 looks awesome, much better shape than the one I just picked up. I also love my FJ Cruiser. What part of MN are you in? I make it up to the twin cities pretty often. Maybe some day I could take a look at your ride to help me understand mine a little better.

That is a nice fj40! Enjoy

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Tex, I'm in Saint Paul. Thinking of taking it to cars and coffee in October maybe. Would love to meet up with any other enthusiasts. Just drop me a message!

It's a great looking original truck. I have a 71 FJ40 FST Also in very original shape. My brother bought it new.
I got this truck about a year ago. The brakes weren't great and pulled to one side. I replaced all the wheel cylinders and s new master cylinder. Now they work great. They can stop on a dime. Your truck is so original I hope you keep it that way.

Thanks Alstruck. I'm gonna keep it as original as I can, I'll look into the brakes. Gonna take it to a local Fj specialist next weekend. In Minnesota, stopping is a major priority for me, especially in winter ;)
