Hi all,

I just purchased a 82 bj60 as my first cruiser. It is all stock 4spd, 3b diesel. I picked it up cheap and it needs lots of work. As this is my first diesel, what sort of maintenance should be done to a diesel cruiser that hasn't been driven in a year. I have brake and bodywork to do but I am enquiring what specifically in regards to the engine, filters? valve adjustment? etc., other maintenance that I should do?

Also looking for sources for used and new bj-60 parts in Southern Ontario, Canada?

What is the best workshop manual available for these vehicles.?.

Parts list thus far:

Front drive shaft
oil filler cap
fuel filler cap
right hub (seized)

Can anybody help me out?

Thanks
Eric

82bj60

change all the fluids, get the injectors checked, change the fuel filter, use a good diesel oil, drain the water trapp if it is still there, when the engine is warmed up then check the valve adjustments

Thanks Sami

I will start with those items...

Anybody know the best place to get parts? NAPA? Toyota? Is there any aftermarket vendors?

What about a manual?

Thanks
Eric

Mike Gozzard has a s*** load of parts sitting around and he is in Goderich.

change the fluids, install a 5 spped and turbo the puppy...

And if you don't have power steering... better add that to the list as well.

Hi all,

Turbo and 5 spd will have to wait..... I just need to get this beast on the road....

Wayne,

Do you have any contact info for Mike Gozzard? I am going to be needing a few small things that would be good to get off some parts trucks... Like a front driveshaft ( or is better to rebuild the one I have?), gas cap and oil fill cap.... And numerous other things that I have yet to find out about!!!:)

I am going to start with all the fluids/filters and freeing up the brakes....

I can't wait until the wife see's this one!!!!!

my advice is get the mechanicals all nice. running good and then later think about body work. In fact if I was to do it all over with the body work thing I would source a clean FJ60 from the USA to put all the good running diesel gear in.

Welcome to the diesel cruiser world.

I would wait on the bodywork, but I have to get it through an Ontario safety inspection and some of it will need to be done.....

Thanks for the phone number Wayne......

Another diesel beast soon to be on the road!!!!!!!!!
