How do you all strap your firewood down when you wheel? In the bed of my truck, I was less concerned with how secure the wood was strapped down. But with it sitting in the cargo area, I’m a bit more concerned for obvious reasons.

A few things I've done.

1.) Buy firewood in boxes and ratchet-strap down to my middle row storage box.
2.) Put firewood in the Trasharoo (fits up to 3 bundles with only a 50% chance of the Trasharoo falling off the tire)
3.) If not totally remote (i.e. Alabama Hills close to Lone Pine) unload some stuff at the campsite and go back to town to grab firewood.
4.) Pay a local to haul out some firewood.
5.) Recently, we decided to use the Environlogs from Home Depot in Baja and they worked pretty well. A combination of those for ambience and some nice hardwood charcoal or binchotan for cooking works well.

I saw that you guys used the envirologs in Baja. I’m gonna give those a go too. I was thinking about box-o-wood too. I tried the trasheroo method on my truck but it was less than optimal in that I couldn’t open the tailgate with the wood in there.

A small chain saw and a gallon of fuel seems to take up a lot less room than cut wood. ;)

I have a large Plano (I think it’s 108 quart) water tight storage box. I use it on a hitch tray most of the time and do fine. There are a few places where due to the terrain I have strapped it down in the middle of the back using the tie down points. It also fits a chainsaw, ax, and hatchet well.

Here's my solution: green 2x4s are cheap. Like $2 cheap. Buy a load, throw them on the chop saw and cut them into uniform 16" sticks. They stack perfectly, burn great, split easy, have no bugs, no bark, and can be used for other purposes like leveling the truck for having your RTT flat. Even if you're going to supplement with locally scavenged windfall, the 2x4s are great for getting things going.
