On 2020-08-03 a small fire broke out on Table Mountain Pass. Rug Road goes through this pass on the route between Mammoth & Klondyke. The fire died out or was put out the same evening, and there was very little damage. It helps that the pass area is pretty barren to begin with.

I drove up Sunday morning to assess the damage. The road is ok and no major trees were demolished although one got quite a tan.

Steve any news of what put it out? I searched Inceweb, but couldn't find anything.
Love the Turkey Vulture pic, one of my favorite birds.

It had rained pretty good the afternoon of the fire so it could have just died out naturally. I peeked at the mountain periodically until about 10 PM and never saw any vehicle lights going up to the pass, but the fire was not smoking in the morning.

I saw two dots on one of the VIIRs websites showing the satellite registered the heat signal in two spots on the pass. I should have got a screenshot because I can't see anything on a VIIRs website that has past history.
