Despite my love of the early 80 series (just sold my second low mileage example), the dream has always been a 40 series - so finally made the jump. An 82 model with (other than the drivers door) original paint. Several leaks to remedy, but an Arizona minimal rust example that has some nice patina- and working stock ac for the missus. (and power steering if she ever has the courage to drive it- or if I have the courage to let her). So question for the new forum - this is all surface rust in the back - have done a bit of a scrub with CLR and applied linseed oil. Gonna live with it for a while, but would you all ultimately repaint this section?

I've never heard of treating bare metal with linseed oil. Clean the oil off and then soak in Evap-o Rust, it won't hurt the paint. Then cover the bare metal with some Rust-Reformer primer and then a top coat of the closest top coat paint you can find.

you must not follow @wngrog builds , which you should.
