Up for sale is my 2 year long project. This is a 63 FJ45 SWB Short Bed which I have performed a full frame off, nut and bolt restoration in conjunction with Metric Offroad of Grand Junction. Mike Goodknight, owner of Metric Offroad helped me with some of the restoration, mechanical and parts sourcing and Bob Anderson, formerly with Proffitts Cruisers and now with Metric Offroad, performed the Body and Paint. Nobody knows Landcruisers better than Mike and nobody knows the body lines and paint better than Bob. It is better than when it rolled off of the show room floor. Everything has been restored back to factory form with a few small but much needed upgrades like Power Steering, F-155 motor, Boosted, front disk brakes and a 2" spring lift and anti-inversion shackles and 33X10.5 BFG ATs.

This is the first production year of the FJ45 and there were very few sent to the states and even fewer short beds. It had spent the majority of it's life in Arizona, with the last 5 -7 years in Montana and Colorado, so it had almost no rust on the cab and front clip and all original body panels were used. The very small amount of rust was cut out and replace with the proper gage metal with exact body lines (see pictures for the perfect floor, bed, etc).

This color was one of 4 colors available for first year and it is a perfect match with all of the accurate accessory paint: White, Pewter and Grey colors. The Coral "Salmon" colored seats are the proper color for these early models and the seams are perfect. I even installed black paneling in the back of the cab like they came from the factory. One of the hardest parts of this restoration was making the Power Steering work with the original steering wheel and column, because it was important to me to keep that original, but it is perfect and works great now.

This year was the only year for the rear spare tire carrier on the FJ45s. I was able to source the new "Bug Catcher" vent window gaskets and the rear license plate is in the proper place, both of which are hard to do and most people don't take the time to do it right. It also has a "Land Cruiser" Stamped bezel and the correct rear tail lights and mounts which are also hard to source. The wheels are Toyota original steelies and have been blasted and powder coated with the proper grey color and I sourced a new set of wheel center caps. It even has the proper "TOYOTA" rear decal. All Emblems and stickers are correct and accurate

Everything works great and it runs great and drives great too! The oil pressure is great, holding at above 1/3 pressure at idle and reaches 2/3 pressure under load. Temperature rises and hold perfect and never gets above half way. Starts without the choke with a couple of pumps and a tap of the key. The engine is strong, the tranny is smooth and the transfer case works great. All of the lights work properly including the high beams.

Lots of new parts, including, but not limited to: Carburetor, Radiator, Starter, Ignition Coil, Points w/Resister, Brake Master, Clutch Master and Slave, Water Pump, Thermostat, Alternator, Power Steering Pump, Fuel Pump, Factory Fuel Filter, Shocks, Cap, Rotor, Plugs, Points, Fuel Sender, Oil Pressure Sender, Temp Sensor, Exhaust, Parking Brake Shoes, Body Mounts, Input seals, Output seals, All new engine gaskets, tranny gaskets, Brake Lines, Oil Lines, Etc, Etc. I also replaced, with new; Window Regulators, Door handles and Latches, Lights, tags/emblems, boots, headliner, Etc. I could go on forever, so I will stop there regarding new parts. Almost all of these parts are TOYOTA Genuine parts with a few exceptions where you simply cannot get anymore.

All of the nuts, bolts, washers screws, mounts, clips, etc have been tanked and re-zinc plated (Toyota bolt labels 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s - see pictures), with the exception of some of the exterior bolts, which I used some stainless steel bolts where I could and Clear Zinc plated for Grade 8 strength (door, tire carrier, ect).

The entire undercarriage has been Lined with mint greet tinted rock liner along with the interior of the bed (see pics). There are some additional upgrades I could still do if you are interested (Air conditioning/heater, you just need to ask.

**The mileage says 3245 because that is what the odometer says. I am not sure exactly how many miles are actually on the vehicle, but I had to list something in the ebay listing**

Sir, you might want to seriously consider waiting 7 months, trailer or transport it down here to Scottsdale to the annual RM auction (or Barrett - the Rm seems to be esp. strong for classic Cruisers.) One of our CSC club member sold his restored 40 there earlier this year for almost 100K. The year before that another clubber sold his restored 40 for 67K. They seem to bring our some spirited bidding...

They'll be fighting over this beauty - she deserves it. Way to go staying with the mint green by the way - came out super sharp.
 
Worth the research, I'm not sure. I know RM has been hitting record prices with them in Scottsdale.

I think you can search their sites for past sales. Gotta be someone on the board that have some insight to some possible location strategy...?
 
RM is pretty particular about who and what vehicles they represent. When I spoke with a consultant, I was informed that they would never have more than one FJ40 at the Auction in Scottsdale and that spot has been reserved for the same restorer for the last two years running. Barrett will not allow a reserve on anything under $100K so you are rolling the dice there. $1200 entry fee and 8% seller premium plus shipping so $65,000 nets you $58,000 or so. Mecum will allow a reserve but they are typically known for muscle.

I didn't realize it was held for him exclusively....he's earned it with his restos.
